Our website is hosted by Strato AG, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. When you visit our website, Strato collects various log files including your IP addresses. We have a legitimate interest in the most reliable display of our website.

In the latter case, deletion takes place after these reasons cease to apply.

 

Legal bases for data processing

Where you have consented to processing, we process your personal data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR or Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR. You can revoke consent at any time. Where data is required to fulfil a contract or pre-contractual measures, we process it on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. Furthermore, we process data where necessary to fulfil a legal obligation on the basis of Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR. Data processing may also take place on the basis of our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The relevant legal basis in each individual case is set out in the following sections of this Privacy Policy.

 

Note on data transfer to the USA and other third countries

Among other things, we use tools from companies based in the USA or other third countries that are not secure under data protection law. When these tools are active, your personal data may be transferred to and processed in these third countries. We would like to point out that no level of data protection comparable to that of the EU can be guaranteed in these countries. Where available, we rely on the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF) and/or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) as the basis for such transfers. Details on the individual providers are set out below.

 

Revocation of your consent to data processing

Many data processing operations are only possible with your express consent. You can revoke consent you have already given at any time. The legality of the data processing carried out until the revocation remains unaffected.

 

Right to object to data collection in special cases (Art. 21 GDPR)

If data processing is based on Art. 6(1)(e) or (f) GDPR, you have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of your personal data. We will no longer process the personal data concerned unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights, and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims. If your personal data is processed for direct advertising purposes, you have the right to object at any time; we will then no longer process your data for such purposes.

 

Right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority

In the event of breaches of the GDPR, data subjects have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of their habitual residence, place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement. The supervisory authority competent for us is:

Right to data portability

Within the framework of the applicable statutory provisions, you have the right at any time to free information about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients, and the purpose of the data processing, and, if applicable, a right to correction or deletion of this data. Right to restriction of processing

You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data. To do so, you can contact us at any time. The right to restriction of processing exists in the cases set out in Art. 18 GDPR.

 

SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as inquiries you send to us as the site operator, this site uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from “http://” to “https://” and by the lock symbol in your browser line. When SSL/TLS encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

 

 

4. Data Collection on this Website

 

Server log files

The provider of the site and its hosting partner automatically collect and store information in so-called server log files, which your browser transmits automatically. This includes: browser type and version, operating system used, referrer URL, host name of the accessing computer, time of the server request, and the IP address. This data is not merged with other data sources. The collection of this data is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and optimization of its website; for this purpose, the server log files must be recorded.

 

Contact by email or via forms

If you contact us by email or through a form on our site, your inquiry, including all resulting personal data (name, inquiry), will be stored and processed by us for the purpose of handling your request. We do not pass on this data without your consent. The processing of this data is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your request is related to the performance of a contract or is necessary for pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, processing is based on our legitimate interest in the effective handling of inquiries addressed to us (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) or on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) where this has been requested. The data you send to us will remain with us until you request deletion, revoke your consent, or the purpose for data storage no longer applies. Mandatory statutory provisions — in particular statutory retention periods — remain unaffected.

 

Onboarding and application form (Jotform)

To apply for the panel and to onboard as a panelist, we use an online form provided by Jotform Inc., 111 Pine Street, Suite 1815, San Francisco, CA 94111, USA (“Jotform”). When you complete and submit the form, the data you provide (e.g., name, email address, company, professional background, and further details relevant to your panel profile) is transmitted to and stored on Jotform’s servers for the purpose of processing your application and setting up your profile.

Data processing is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, as the data is required to establish and carry out your participation in the panel. You can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future. Data transfer to the USA is safeguarded by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, Jotform’s certification under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Newsletter and embedded forms (Brevo)

If you wish to receive the newsletter offered on the website, or if you submit one of the sign-up, application, or contact forms embedded on our site, we use Brevo (Sendinblue GmbH, Köpenicker Straße 126, 10179 Berlin, Germany, “Brevo”). To send the newsletter, we require an email address from you. Additional data may be collected on a voluntary basis.

The data entered when signing up for the newsletter is processed exclusively on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can revoke your consent to the storage of your data and email address, as well as their use for sending the newsletter, at any time — for example, via the “unsubscribe” link in the newsletter. The legality of the data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.

Appointment scheduling (Zoom)

For scheduling and conducting onboarding conversations, we use services provided by Zoom Communications, Inc., 55 Almaden Boulevard, 6th Floor, San Jose, CA 95113, USA (“Zoom”). When you book an appointment or take part in a video conversation, the data you provide (e.g., name, email address, appointment details) and technical connection data are processed. Data processing is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of pre-contractual and contractual measures) and, where consent is obtained, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Data transfer to the USA is safeguarded by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, Zoom’s certification under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework. 5. Panelist Profiles

As part of the Founders Foresight Panel, we publish profiles of participating founders on this website. These profiles may include the panelist’s name, photo, country, company, areas of expertise, and a short biography. This data is published on the basis of the panelist’s consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which is obtained during onboarding. Panelists can request the correction or removal of their profile at any time by contacting us; consent can be revoked with effect for the future.

 

6. Analysis Tools

Google Analytics (planned) This website plans to use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google Analytics uses cookies and enables an analysis of how visitors use the website. The information generated is usually transferred to a Google server, including in the USA, and stored there.

Google Analytics will only be activated with your prior consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Before any tracking begins, a cookie consent banner will be displayed asking for your permission. You can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future. As long as you have not given consent, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics data is collected. Data transfer to the USA is safeguarded by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and Google’s certification under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

 

7. Cookies

This website currently uses only essential cookies that are technically necessary for the operation of the site. These essential cookies are used on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR and do not require prior consent. Embedded third-party forms and services (e.g., Brevo, Jotform) may set additional cookies when you interact with them. Once non-essential services such as Google Analytics are activated, a cookie consent banner will be implemented to obtain your permission before any non-essential cookies are set or tracking begins.
